Part Time Cook in Charge

Permanent, 5.5 hours per week (8:00am-1:30pm Monday)

A local primary school and nursery to Shrewsbury are looking to appoint a Cook in Charge to run the school kitchen on Mondays. This is a popular, busy four‑class rural school and nursery with a breakfast club and after‑school care, providing a broad and varied curriculum. As a result, the school kitchen plays an important role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing through the provision of healthy meals. Working independently, the Cook in Charge is responsible for food preparation and service, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the kitchen.

The role involves regular contact with staff and pupils and therefore requires good interpersonal skills, reliability and flexibility. The ability to work supportively within the ethos and aims of a Church of England school is essential. Experience in a school or similar catering environment is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.

The Cook in Charge working pattern is every Monday, 8:00am-1:30pm (the role includes leading our Early Birds Club from 8:00-8:30am).
